Wachendorfia thyrsiflora
Wachendorfia thyrsiflora
COMING SOON
Marsh butterfly lily from South Africa. In the blood root family, check out the roots which are a brilliant brightest orange! It is a large to very large evergreen plant with fluted leaves. 60–100cm high when flowering. Hardy and easy. I have it in normal garden conditions, but wet feet is fine as it naturally occurs in stream edges and marshy places. It does look a bit messy in winter in heavy frosts, but it comes back just fine. Golden yellow flower spires in summer. Adds a tropical look. Drought tolerant.
