Matagouri, tūmatakuru. A lovely plant, which can be trimmed to form a shape to fit your garden, Japanese cloud pruned, bonsai  or au naturelle. I have used them in a nasty spot under pines in the sun, but dry. I have put our Canterbury Plains Clematis quadribracteolata  through them. Both are hardy and drought tolerant once established. These are lovely plants, clear the weeds first! The flowers are lovely. The dried stems make a fascinating object for a rustic jar. If you can wait a hundred years, the bark is textured and flaking and the natural windswept form a delight. Check out NZPCN photographs to be inspired. Mike Thorsen's are super. Here are a couple of others we are free to use. It is an excellent site.
