| This outstanding super miniature, rare native of Oregon, is tough enough for a select garden lightly shaded spot, or pot cultivation. |
A striking spring flowering petite favourite. Some shade but not deep shade, some sun is preferable. I have it in the lightly shaded bit of the rock garden. In a woodland garden be sure to give it its own space. Humus and woodland soils. Moisture all year round is best. 15 cm or 7cm depending. 30cm spread eventually.
These are a very variable species. I am trying to collect variants. I have a good self sowing (at last and how wonderful - never weed roughly!) The fist photo is 2026 , the one that is the same but smaller is 2025, so as you can see it doubles every year. That is all very well with a huge clump, but annoying I know with one of my little plants. But hang in there. At present the form is lucky dip. But likely to be the larger with the freckled flowers.
Do collect seed from your trilliums and pop it , still squelchy, a cm or two under ground near mum. Just like the ants would in nature. Fresh is the only way to go.
