Saxifraga pubescens 'Snowcap'
Saxifraga pubescens 'Snowcap'
Little tight buns of soft green foliage adorned with chubby stemless pure white flowers in Spring. Excellent for a trough. Moist fertile soil. Morning or afternoon sun is best. 10cm W x 5 cm H. Seen is an amazing presented plant, photo form the Alpine Garden Society. it is worth looking at this information motion about the mossy saxifrages. This is one of the difficuly=t ones, I have grown in in an alpine house and out. Seems OK, such a nice neat mound. I don't get flowering like that though. In winter the pouter leaves die and it gives an interetst=ing appearance with each rosette foiled with brown. https://www.alpinegardensociety.net/plants/mossy-saxifrages/
It is very hard to grow a perfect plant like this, it needs even conditions and frequent turning, personally I prefer them growing in a crack in a trough. The wiki commons photo shows the almost semi-succulent looking leaves.
