Stemless pink cushion for moist and cool
Afghanistan to S. Tadzhikistan and W. Himalaya. Stemless flowers of glowing rose pink appear amongst the compact foliage of this little creeping carpet in very early spring and late winter. H5cm x W25cm.
Both P. clarkei and P. warshenewskyana are miniature, but this one is "stemless" and forms low cushions with longer toothed leaves. I have taken the liberty of sharing work of "Jasmine Star Outdoor Photography" while I wait for the hoped for permission to use it. Jasmine has taken an incredible range of plant and scenery shots in the Himalayas as she treks for ages here. Her photo shows the leaves. She also shows in growing next to running water too, so moist soil, shade. Ideal for crevices. It has me confused when compared to P. clarkei. Its the habit and leaves that vary. P. clarkei has more rounded leaves and is a tighter clump, whereas P. warshenewskyana is a runner.
My photos were not properly labelled. Better luck this spring.
