Phlox stolonifera 'Violet Vere'

A lovely, less common type of phlox, named at Sissinghurst. Larger leaves and flowers on short stems.  A beautiful ground-covering phlox for moist shade, Creeping Phlox ranges through the Appalachians. late spring flowering with rich purple flowers, mat is 5cm tall, spreading well with flowers 15cmH. Sun (if moist) -part shade, great in rock gardens, edges of borders, and in troughs and gravel gardens, especially good for under roses in rose gardens. An experiment in the sand bed has proved interesting. In the shade of course, the plant has taken off.
