Superb for dry gardens. Intoxicating colour.
Desert penstemon. Multi-stemmed plants with clasping, oblong, toothed, saucer-leaves around its amazing flowers. Sturdy, hardy and a very early splash of colour. It is highly valued in xeric landscaping for its vibrant, hot pink-to-magenta tubular flowers, striking bluish-green foliage, and exceptional drought tolerance, hence its name I suppose! However tolerant of garden conditions too but give it plenty of sun and good drainage, When in bloom it will be constantly in use by bees, butterflies (and hummingbirds if only we had such jewels). From southwestern US and Mexico. 70x30cm
