Penstemon davidsonii var. menziesii

A very desirable rock garden plant that I have at last. It has spreading mats of small green leaves carrying heads of large violet snapdragon flowers in early summer. It looks good whether trailing over the edge of a stone trough or in a selected spot on the rock garden in sun and well-drained soil.
