Beth's poppy. Normally this species is orange. This is Beth Chatto' s selection. (Beth's website says she knows nothing about it's origin except that she likes to use it). Seed from Great Dixter . Hardy annual with striking red flowers with a black blotch at base.Sp fl. With nice seed heads.  Can self sow. Sun, moist and well drained preferred. I have nabbed their pictures. What a place, the meadows... Just remember poppies need disturbed or open soil to germinate, they are not part of a mature meadow, so best to collect some seed. I have my poppies in various (isolated) sand beds so I can dig up and pot on little plants. These are new ones. Avoid root disturbance as much as possible with poppies.
