Moreae gigandra

A very beautiful South African bulb which is unfortunately endangered in the wild being restricted to only a handful of sites in the northwestern Cape. Fortunately it grows well in cultivation. A strikingly beautiful species with the largest blue flower.  Best without severe frost, but try sheltered nooks. Dormant over summer they are best kept out of excessive moisture.  Well drained sandy soil and full sun are required.
