This seed stock is small and wiry with very small bluish leaves. It has pale blue flowers from late spring through to the end of summer, making it one of our most attractive coastal flowering plants and an excellent garden subject. 40cm tall but variable and can be taller. Let it seed to perpetuate.
Whilst plants with bluish or blue striped flowers have been found in New Zealand proper, DNA data (Heenan et al. 2010) suggests that Chatham Island plants are distinct. Further research is needed, but until such time as this has been done it seems prudent to retain the Chatham Island Linum as distinct from New Zealand plants.
