Liatris spicata

Blazing Star or Gayfeather, from American prairies in  damp meadows. An easy plant in the garden with reasonable drainage. Full sun is the best but part shade is also OK. Bees love them. Handsome summer flowering of dense bright pink spikes 60cm tall or more. Great at the front of a border. They last well  both in the garden and in a vase with the individual flowers, they are asters, start opening from the top and work their way down. Plants are 4 years old and flowering now. In a year or two you can dig in winter and break up the corms. 

Tricky to box in full flight, get them soon and before they run out . They will have their blooms lopped off if they are too big.
