Purple points, leaves, buds and flowers! A must have in any garden.
Purple tinted new leaves burst forth in spring when little else perennial is interesting, the leaves continue to be dark hued until the flower buds emerge which take over as gorgeous dark stems and buds which give interest well before flowering. Pale blue/purple flowers in summer are attractively patterned. Hardy and resilient. Best in full sun or part shade, in acidic, moist to wet, humus-rich soils. It may be grown in up to 5-10 cm of shallow standing water or heavy glugy stuff. I grow it in normal garden soil, where it appears to be fairly drought tolerant. 90cm
