Easily grown in average, medium to wet, well-drained soils in part shade to full shade. Moisture especially during the growing season.  Prefers moist, organically rich, slightly acidic soils.  Hardy. 60cm high.  Only a couple. This image is from the Missouri Botanic Gardens where the drooping habit is easily observed. While frost hardy to negatives not found in New Zealand, it would be naturally under snow for protection. Late frosts damage the foliage which is a shame. Use overhead protection of evergreen foliage in colder areas. Good for rock crevices or hanging baskets to display the lovely form and large blooms.
