Wild type. Whiter and prettier, more petite, for the species nerds amongst us.
This spreading plant with a woody stem is 25cm high. Overlapping white petals and masses of golden stamens up to 3 cm across.They close up at night - hence the genus name Helianthemum, which means 'sun flower'. Seed from Spain. Likes it hot and dry and lime preferred. The simplicity of the wild species is hard to beat in a sophisticated rock garden or trough in my opinion. Pretty, little flowers all summer.
