Gorgonidium vermicidum

Gorgonidium vermicidum

A very rare, summer-growing South American aroid that goes dormant in the winter

Leaves divided vertically to look like a ginger, 60cm. Argentina, Bolivia in moist areas at about 2,500m.  Deciduous. Crazy arum lily like flowers pop out first in late spring or early summer followed by the leaves. Where they live it is dry in winter and moist and humid in summer. Generally no frosts, but can do. So dryish or dry over winter. In this case it is more likely to survive light frosts. Damp and cold is not its friend I would think. So far I haven't tested them out doors. I will do and it will be in a sheltered spot with very friable, well drained soil. We get fairly heavy frosts. Do water in early spring for good flowering.

Small tubers about the size of a broad bean and up to a tiny spud. I'll be sending the smaller ones.
