Gentiana septemfida 'lagodechiana'

The crested gentian. From the Caucasus, Turkey. Low-growing  perennial 15cm x 30cm, blue trumpet-shaped blooms in summer, rich, moist soil and full sun preferred. Flowering July to September in the northern hemisphere, so a late summer bloomer here. Long lasting plants.

Prefers a slightly acidic to neutral soil pH, but it is remarkably flexible and can tolerate alkaline or chalky (lime-containing) conditions as long there is great drainage.
