Digitalis canariensis syn. Isoplexis canariensis

A beautiful burnt orange colour. Statuesque. A lovely tub subject.

Canary Islands and Madeira. A rare, endangered evergreen shrub with glossy green leaves. Lovely bright  reddish-orange foxglove-like flowers on 30cm spikes from early spring through until winter. Full sun or light shade. Little to no frosts, so a sheltered spot near a building for me. Prune after flowering. Good for nectar feeders. 1.2m Toxic if eaten. Its lower leaves pass away leaving an openness that is best filled with other plants.
