Dictamnus alba

Dictamnus alba

Burning bush, dittany, gas plant or fraxinella. In hot weather the vapors given off can burn.  Best not to try it I suspect. This herbaceous perennial has several geographical variants. It is native to warm, open woodland habitats in southern Europe, north Africa and much of Asia. Both fragrant and  long blooming spring through summer. Excellent cut flowers with lovely citrus scented glossy foliage. Curious seed pods for arrangements. Water-wise. 90 cm. Poor soil fine, deciduous. Only a few. These plants take a long time to mature.
