Rounded cymes of numerous pink flowers emerge from bare ground in late spring. From the Saxifragacea family. These are followed by large round peltate leaves (the stalk attaches in the middle) which are a delight all summer. These are 6-20 cm wide and tint red in autumn. Slowly spreading, rhizomatous perennial. I have found it to be great in damp margins, in full sun in normal garden settings as well as part shade. Winter dormant. These were used in a mass planting by Piet Oudolf at Hauser and Wirth Art Gallery Garden, it was early in the season and these, in a large bed at the start of the vista, added so much to the scheme.
