Native of open spots in woods and moist soils in Japan. Elongated leaves in a dense rosette and pale blue to purplish blue flowers in spring. Easily cultivated in sun to prat shade\sunny to partially shaded spot. Rare. 10cm max.
From Mt Takao museum notes: "...ordinarily grows at sunny places such as the grassfields and the roadside around human habitations, or on stonewalling and in the fields. (Perennial plant takes several years to grow). The stalk and the leaf have minute whitish paraphyllium." PS this is a minute stipule.
