Veltheimia bracteata

A South African bulb.  Keep dryish or dry when dormant in summer. A great conservatory or indoor plant. Drag it inside in autumn and be impressed with a mass of blooms, once you have a few bubs in a pot. Be sure to bring it into the shelter away from frosts in winter if you are in an area with proper frosts. Rarely offered, the glorious, tall pink flower spikes appear above glossy rosettes of fleshy green leaves in spring. Perfect for lighting up those difficult dry, shaded areas of the frost-free garden. Enjoying similar conditions, you can plant in any position where hellebores and clivias thrive, even in  shade under trees. Large flowering bulbs.
