Lathyrus vernus

The spring vetchling, spring pea, or spring vetch, is a perennial native to forests and of Europe and Siberia. A clump-forming herbaceous elegant rounded hump of a perennial to 45cm in height, with dark green, pinnate (pea -like) leaves and short racemes of up to 6 flowers 2cm in length, purple above, lilac keel below, ageing to a blue-ish green.  Seed from the Czech Republic. Easy in a dappled light and hummus rich setting  of a woodland or amongst shrubs.  Hardy, looses its leaves in winter.
