Giant Himalayan Lily or here in New Zealand the Mount Peel Lily where it has naturalised. Huge when in bloom, up to 3m of glorious scented, huge cream trumpets. Easy in moist woodlands, do not let them get too dry. Small plants 3 years old, they take 7 years to flower from seed to flower and then the bulb dies. This may seem like a great deal of work for a one-off flower, but the dying bulb produces offshoots that’ll flower a few years later. This means that once you’ve got it going it’ll give you flowers most years and will begin acting like a perennial. It will seed about too if your garden conditions are suitable. These plants are 4 years old, should flower next year or the year after. Very slow to propagate.  Big and healthy, but then they always look luscious.

Soon large plants will be available. They just need to get settled. The post is more as they take up the whole 1/5 of a box and all the height. But you save a year. These should flower next year.
