Camassia leichtlinii
Camassia leichtlinii
Prefers generally moist, fertile soil, in full sun to partial sunlight. Not eaten by stock so great in a field with animals. Easy to naturalise. They clump well and will grow from seed. Each stalk contains many six-petaled, 3 cm, star-shaped pale to deep lavender-blue flowers with yellow anthers and whisper-green centres. The flowers open sequentially from the bottom so a good length of flowering time. One of the later spring bulbs to bloom. Stunning planted in solo drifts, as there are a variety of shades both with different bulbs and as the inflorescences age. Used in all the new wave perennial plantings for spring impact. I use them as a layer of later blooming bulbs over cyclamen hederifolium, snowdrops, daffodils and more. Plant deeply, but if not they drag them selves to the correct depth anyway. 40cm H. Price per pot. I have many, but they are so deep and hard to dig up and therefore now not available until late in the season. Only a few available potted up.
