| Central Chile to W. Argentina and the Falklands. Does well in the Christchurch Botanic gardens, hardy, 10-35 cm, poor gritty soil in sunny hot place is its natural home. Winter cover is suggested against excessive moisture, although most are tolerant of excess rain in pots all winter here but there is good drainage. More delicate overall than C. biflora, with cute little brown speckles or glands on the leaves. Same delightful yellow slipper flower in plain yellow with a few leaves on the flowering stalk. |
