A special looking but easy plant.
A fabulous easy perennial native to Chile and Argentina. It forms low, compact flat rosettes of hairy leaves, whose size depends on the conditions and features vibrant yellow inflated flowers resembling slippers. The plant thrives in moist but well-drained soil, particularly in rock gardens or alpine environments. I have tried it in nasty drier spots too and it adds interest there too. But if you only get one, don't start there. Give it a bit of love to get it established! Seeds about. (Try the seedlings in those nasty spots.)
