Arenarias are lovely forgiving rock and trough plants. This one is even better! Sandworts are delicate looking ground covers with white flowers and tiny triangular leaves making an attractive mat looking something like a hebe in its leaf pattern. Silver grey firm mounding plant for a free draining, sunny area. Resembling coral with a silvery hue and firm to touch. Young or shaded pants will be silvery-green. Ideally suited to a crevice garden, alpine rock garden or container. 10cm high but it bulges up! This species is endemic to Spain, primarily found on dry rocky limestone screes of the Pyrenees, growing at an elevation of 1500-3200 m. The photograph with the biro for scale is a particular cultivar, slightly smaller leaves I think but shows the special form of the close opposite leaves.
