Clematis stans

Soft blue flowers that sprawl gently through shrubs, bringing on a second flowering or as a ground cover.

Japanese clematis. Nodding soft blue flowers. Sun for the tops, roots happier in the shade. So perfect through a shrub that is dull in summer. Try Buddleja, climbing roses and other larger shrubs. Naturally clematis often lie about, especially these non climbing ones, Look amazing just forming puddles of leaves and pale blue. Like a larger growing, non-shrubby version of C. heracleifolia.
