Amorpha canescens

Its silvery-blue foliage adds textural contrast, though it requires patience as it's slow to establish and bloom, often taking years to mature. So do not delay.

Lead Plant, Devil's Shoestrings, False Indigo, Downy  Indigo. Dense spikes of tiny deep purple flowers in mid to late summer. Fine grey-green aromatic leaves. Tough deep roots give it its second common name. Small shrub in mild winters, herbaceous in harsh winters. Long-lived, drought tolerant, flowers in summer.  New for me.  Still small but growing.
